All advice is provided free of charge. We provide free advice and information on a wide range of issues and subjects.

Harlow CAB is primarily a generalist advice giving service. We can advise on a wide range of issues, and all advice is strictly confidential. All interviews are conducted in private rooms and clients can remain anonymous if they wish.

All the files we keep are only seen by ourselves and our client. They are never shared with anyone else unless specifically requested by the client. All issues discussed with the client are strictly confidential and not discussed outside the CAB unless requested by the client. All advisers our bound by confidentiality agreements to this effect. If we are unable to supply the specialist advice needed by the client we will endeavour to refer them to a specialist adviser or solicitor

Home Visits

Harlow Citizens Advice bureau provide home visits to clients that have been referred via Community Agents on  0800 9775858 , www.communityagentsessex.org.uk or Essex County Council FABA Team (Financial Assessments and Benefits Advice team). Once referred we are able to assist clients on the completion and assistance with Personal Independence forms, Attendance Allowance forms and other benefit enquiries.


Citizens Advice Harlow Services 2019

We have increased resources to assist with clients eligible for Debt Relief Orders, Citizens Advice Harlow now have a DRO Intermediary.

We have a Benefit Specialist who assists with benefit queries including Mandatory Reconsiderations, Appeals and Submissions.

Our Housing Specialist is available to assist with Harlow residents and any issues they may face.
If you have debt related issues our Money Adviser is here to assist.

Any Universal Credit queries are booked in with our Universal Credit Lead who is specifically trained to assist you.

We are part of Essex Adviceline, this means Overflow resource funded by Citizens Advice will answer between 50-100 Harlow clients extra per month.

Out of hours recorded information, and transfer partner options, Consumer Service, Money Advice Service, National Debt Line, Pensions Advisory Service

Extra resilience by working with 8 other bureaux in Essex.

Working with Maybury Open Door to provide further advice days at St Pauls.

Working with the Multi Agency Centre to provide advice from the job centre.

Provide an outreach at Templefields every week helping clients who are unable to access our services.

We accepted referrals from various different agencies using the Harlow Frontline system.

Continue to work with Harlow Council’s Welfare Reform and Housing team by accepting referrals for clients in need of advice and information.

Red Cross appointments held from bureau for those that require asylum support and access to the destitution fund.

Law Clinics are now run from Citizens Advice Harlow.  Working with solicitors over all subject matters to assist clients with free legal help.

Provide Home visits for vulnerable clients who need assistance with PIP/AA forms.

Provide statistics/outcomes in all areas of CAH advice work.

Continue to work closely with our national Research and Campaigns team to gather evidence of injustice and discrimination.
Working with other organisations to write joint funding bids to gain and develop services for people in Harlow.

A distributor of Foodbank Vouchers once authorised.

We value ourselves highly as a client centred organisation. Our ethos is work closely with other organisations with the same aims and principles and those that historically can deliver the best solution for the client’s needs and surrounding issue.

On the 25th May 2016, Harlow Citizens Advice Bureau was 60 years old.
