Margaret is of pension age; she is married, receives a state pension, and owns her own property. Margaret’s husband is her caregiver as she has numerous health conditions that affect her mobility and quality of life.

Reason client needs advice:

Margaret was referred to us through her GP surgery as her mobility had deteriorated, and she needed help applying for a blue badge. 

What we have done to help the client:

Margaret was invited to attend an appointment with one of our experienced Advisers at Citizens Advice Harlow. We assisted Margaret in applying for a Blue Badge and also advised that she may be eligible for Attendance Allowance (AA), our Adviser assisted her with the application.

Outcome:

Blue Badge

Margaret's blue badge application was approved, and she received the blue badge in a short span of time. The Blue Badge will help her to have more accessible, convenient, and safe parking options, enabling her to manage her mobility challenges more effectively.

Attendance Allowance

Following a successful Attendance Allowance application, Margaret was awarded an enhanced rate of £108.55 per week, making her £5,644 better off a year.

The above benefits will significantly improve her quality of life.
