Client profile:

David is single, has numerous health conditions, lives in a house in multiple occupation (HMO), and receives Universal Credit (UC).

Why client needs advice: David attended one of the Community Hub outreaches to speak to an Adviser from Citizens Advice Harlow as he was struggling financially.

What we have done to help the client: Our Adviser completed a benefit check for David and identified that he could be eligible for Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and Limited Capability for Work Related Activity (LCWRA), which our Adviser assisted him with. Due to his financial situation, David had very little food, so an application was made to the Essential Living Fund.

Outcome:

  • PIP awarded the low rate for daily living £72.65 per week

  • LCWRA awarded £416.19 per month

  • Essential Living Fund awarded  £275 one-off payment to help with groceries, energy, and water

David is now better off by £8,772.08 per year
