Our client lived with her partner and children ……..
Client Profile: Our client lived with her partner and children in privately rented accommodation. They were in receipt of disability related benefits and other eligible benefits.
Reason client needs advice:
The family have moved from one local authority to another. As a result, our client is now required to claim Universal Credit to get help with housing costs, as opposed to continuing to receive their previously claimed Housing Benefit. The client wanted to know if this was correct and how it would affect their benefits income.
What we have done to help the client:
Our advisor ran a benefit check for the client based on their current benefits and their family situation. This check showed that the family would be better off under Universal Credit. Our adviser assisted the client to complete the Universal Credit online claim.
Outcome:
Under Universal Credit, the family are better off by £67.59 per month, including all rent being covered less just £1 per month.
